All of our facilitators have been trained through the Planned Parenthood Sexual Education Certification program as well as an extensive facilitator Training program designed for YESS members specifically.
Worried about what our program might cost you? How does free sound? Since we are students pursuing our passion in teaching sex ed we are offering our services for free for this next year as we develop our program.
Pioneer Valley Youth Workshops
We take a comprehensive and reflection based approach to sexuality education. Our aim is to help students understand and navigate the physical and emotional dynamics of growing up. No fear tactics, just real conversations about real life. We provide a platform of information and resources which allows students to get accurate information, in a safe and supportive way, so that they know if changes they are going through are all normal, and so they can come to healthy conclusions about sex and sexuality themselves.
We do not just talk at students, instead we engage them physically and emotionally with hands on activities and discussions. Our workshops are designed with the understanding that every group has different experiences and needs and therefore deserves specialized workshops. This specialization includes making sure all content is age appropriate, but we encourage that they are thinking about where they are now, and where they will be in the future. Additionally every workshop is survivor friendly with a special emphasis on using all identity inclusive language.
We teach from the Advocates For Youth "Rights, Respect, and Responsibility" curriculum as well as the Planned Parenthood "Get Real Curriculum". Both curriculums fully meet the National Standards for Sexual Education and has their full curriculum online along with a bunch of resources that we encourage you to look into( click on "full curriculum" and "advocated for youth" to open their pages). We handpick lessons from both curriculum to ensure that our program is specialized for your group based on age and desired topics.
Topics we cover are: understanding gender and identity, the developing body/ anatomy, puberty, stigma/ bullying, consent, self love, having sexuality related conversations(with peers and adults), STI’s, protection methods, unplanned pregnancy, healthy relationships, contraceptives, and sexual hygiene.
